The Shillelagh Foundation at a Glance
Our History
The History of the Shillelagh Foundation is rooted in the continuing success of the Shillelagh Open Golf Tournament. The Open is the Foundation's main fund-raising activity and was first held in the fall of 1975 at Coachman's Golf Course. The 46th Annual Shillelagh Open will be held at the Stoughton Country Club on September 12th, 2021. The Shillelagh Foundation was founded by the late Bill Borman who operated the Shillelagh Bar in downtown Stoughton and thus named the golf tournament the Shillelagh Open. The sole purpose of the Shillelagh Foundation was, and is still to raise fund's for Stoughton's medical and emergency needs.
Net proceeds grew until the Foundation was able to contribute $15,000 to community organizations each year with the help of our community and local businesses. Over the past 45 years, the Shillelagh Foundation has been able to donate over $400,000 for various healthcare and emergency need for nonprofit organizations.
